Huntsman Restarts German Pigments Plant

05.10.2015 -

US chemical producer Huntsman said it has restarted its pigments plant at Uerdingen, Germany following the explosion of a nitrogen tank on Aug. 5. The company said the restart took place without technical issue.

The incident injured 20 workers, one of them seriously. Local officials reported at the time that asbestos had been released both inside and outside the plant but was not likely to pose a threat to nearby residential areas.

Huntsman, which acquired the facility with its takeover of Rockwood last year, did not comment on either issue.

Production of TiO2 was said not to have been affected.
