New Anti-Aging Active Ingredient from Exsymol

Sirhamnose from Exsymol is an innovative active ingredient that protects the dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ) and provides it with new stability. It is now available as part of Nordmann, Rassmann's product portfolio.

Silicium is an essential structural element of the skin. It stabilizes the supporting structures between fibroblasts and collagen fibers, optimizing the firmness of the skin. With age, however, the quantity of natural silicium in the skin decreases and the first wrinkles begin to appear. Sirhamnose, the new active ingredient from Exsymol, works to maintain a youthful, wrinkle-free complexion - thereby closing a gap in the Exsymol's portfolio. The product was launched at in-cosmetics 2014, the world's leading specialist fair for personal care products.

Sirhamnose is made of Silanetriol and Rhamnose. The quantity of silicium is, however, not to be confused with silicon, as Exsymol's silicium technology involves organic silicium monomers. The raw material stimulates the expression of endogenous structural proteins such as laminin 5, collagen IV and collagen VII. The proteoglycan perlecan is then also produced in higher amounts. The adherence of the epidermis to the dermis is thereby intensified, giving the skin a fresh and youthful appearance.

The new raw material is a colourless to pale yellow liquid and can be added to existing formulations in concentrations ranging from 3% to 6%. Sirhamnose can be used primarily well in anti-aging and wound-healing products.
