Shell Wants 30% of CNOOC Refinery

Shell is in talks with Chinese oil company CNOOC on a 30% stake in a $7.5 billion refining project, the China Daily newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing CNOOC officials. The project, expected to become operational in 2014 with an annual refining capacity of 10 million tons and ethylene production of 1 million tons, is the second phase of CNOOC's Huizhou refinery at Daya Bay in Guangdong province. more

Reliance, Essar Eye BP's Africa Retail Operations

BP is in talks with India's Reliance Industries and Essar Group to sell its African retail assets that could be worth as much as $500 million, four sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Wednesday. It was not immediately known whether BP was showing the African assets to other potential buyers. BP plans to sell $30 billion of assets over the next 18 months to cover costs related to the worst oil spill in U.S. history. more
