Samsung LED said on Sunday it had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Osram Korea Co. and two other Korean sales agents of German lightbulb maker Osram at a Seoul district court.
Samsung LED said in a statement the lawsuit was in response to a patent suit brought against it by Osram.

Benefits at a Lower Cost - The downturn of global economy has not reduced the need for investing in process automation. It has, however, prompted creative thinking. The value and quality of devices that would have been scrapped just a few years ago is now thoroughly evaluated. In some cases it turns out that all the benefits of a fully automated system can be obtained at lower efforts and lower costs, simply by upgrading of process instrumentation devices already in use. BASF in Ballerup in Denmark has tested the concept and reduced their need for manpower.

Germany on Wednesday relaunched legislation to back further development of carbon capture and storage technology (CCS) needed for coal-to-power generation.
CCS is meant to protect the environment as CO2 no longer gets trapped in the atmosphere but the economics of the method are questionable as additional space and more energy is needed for the process, and power plant efficiency decreases.
Other countries exploring the technology include the United States and Australia as would-be exporters target coal-burning markets such as China.

Outgoing ThyssenKrupp finance chief Alan Hippe will take up the same position at Roche Holding, replacing Erich Hunziker as the Swiss drugmaker implements cost cuts after a series of pipeline setbacks.
Hippe will join Roche as a member of the corporate executive committee in April, Roche said in a statement on Monday, as the group brings in another expert familiar with a hard business environment.

German group Linde will halt all business operations in Iran due to political developments there, the world's number-two industrial gases producer said on Monday.
"We have already decided months ago not to do any new business there in Iran," a company spokesman said. "In the light of the political developments in the past weeks, we have decided meanwhile to completely stop all activities in Iran."
