Jan. 27, 2012The production of pharmaceutical products requires strict compliance with specified ambient conditions. Since the building automation systems (BAS) must meet very special requirements and increasingly stringent official regulations.
moreJan. 27, 2012Customer Support - From specific technologies and services to comprehensive solutions: A broad family of brands represents the myriad ways Emerson Pro¬cess Management can support their customers in chemical industries, life sciences, in oil and gas, power, pulp and paper and much more industrial branches.
CHEManager Europe's Dr. Volker Oestreich asked Gertjan van der Ven, General Manager Sales & Marketing Germany, about current trends in process automation.
moreDec. 08, 2011Groundbreaking Project - When planning a new chemical plant, the engineers at Chemplast Sanmar had to consider many aspects such as safety, quality, efficiency, law and the environment. They proved that it is possible to meet all these requirements with state-of-the-art technology.
moreNov. 09, 2011Look To The Future - Decades of operation, modernisation and expansion have left many chemical plants with a somewhat haphazard automation mix of different controls, process control systems, remote I/Os and field devices. The various components may use different communication protocols such as Hart, Profibus or Foundation Fieldbus, and are often based on different device integration technologies.
moreNov. 09, 2011Success - At Loos, the acronym SUCcess stands for "Start-Up-Control combined with Shutdown and Standby," a control and equipment variant facilitating automatic steam boiler operation in the operating modes normal operation, heat maintenance, cold standby and hot standby.
At the push of a button or using an external request signal, the steam boiler can be started up fully automatically and gently when cold, shut down and protected against overload during normal operation.

moreSep. 07, 2011Innovation - Glatt's Technology Center in Weimar stands for innovative technologies for the production of granules and pellets from powders and/or solid-containing liquids.
In the last 12 months alone, more than 120 customers from 17 countries used the company's advanced equipment to develop new product forms by feasibility studies or to optimize the properties of already established products for their production processes. Apparatuses and plants of different sizes are available for such studies - from a laboratory via a pilot up to a production scale.
moreSep. 07, 2011No Risk, Lots of Fun - Most fieldbus novices feel edgy about their decision and understandably so. Getting a new technology to work right the first time is a task associated with perceived risk. Taking this risk out of the equation and getting the plant on the way requires change. A few concepts have proven true to get it right the first time.

moreSep. 07, 2011Case Study - At Total Petrochemicals polyethylene production plant in Antwerp, the facility wanted to find a way to increase its reliability and stability at the plant. At issue were two boilers equipped with single loop individual controllers. Unfortunately one boiler was not able to control the steam header pressure automatically without tripping on load upsets.
As part of a boiler revamp project, Total Petrochemicals turned to Honeywell to help design a state-of-the-art boiler/combustion control system according to its latest standards and philosphy.
