Innovation in the chemical industries is traditionally experimentally driven. Moore’s law as well as convenient accessibility of scalable supercomputers allow for in-silico design of novel materials at experimental accuracy in a larger chemical space, which is increasing the likelihood of finding or optimizing matter with the desired properties.
An overview of this process of platformization of molecular design will be given as well as its impact on research projects and organisation.
Jörg Weiser joined Schrödinger in 2002 as Managing Director and is responsible for Schrödinger's operations as well as Schrödinger's business in EMEA, India and China. He received his doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the Georg-August-University in Göttingen, Germany in 1996. He conducted post-doctoral research at Columbia University in New York from 1997 to 1999 with Prof. Clark Still. He was co-founder and Managing Director of Anterio, a German consulting and research company established in 1999, prior to joining Schrödinger.
