Ascend Ends Major DME Distribution Contract

29.01.2016 -

US-based Ascend Performance Materials has ended its relationship with its largest distributor of dimethyl ester (DME) products and invested in its own marketing capability. While several smaller distributors will still offer the products, the company said it will now focus on selling directly to customers worldwide.

With production facilities in Pensacola, Florida, Ascend offers three dimethyl esters, along with dimethyl succinate, dimethyl gluterate, dimethyl adipate and wet dibasic acid, as well as custom blends.

The portfolio comprises seven different products used in solvents, paints and foundry resins. DMEs have low volatile organic compound (VOC) levels that allow coatings manufacturers to meet stringent emissions standards.

Separately, the US company has obtained a REACh registration for its DME with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This, along with a new distribution center in Antwerp, Belgium, will help support new business development throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, it said.
