Air Products Completes ACP Acquisition

07.03.2019 -

US industrial gases producer Air Products has completed the acquisition of ACP Europe, continental Europe’s largest independent carbon dioxide (CO₂) supplier. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Air Products said its customers will benefit from the company’s expanded liquid CO₂ supply position across additional European geographies and its greater density in continental Europe.

Calling the buy “good” and “logical,” Ivo Bols, the US company’s Industrial Gases president in Europe and Africa, said ACP’s business complements the Pennsylvania-based gases producer’s own and provides a solid platform for further European industrial gas growth.

ACP supplies a wide range of gas market applications, including beverage, chemical, food and horticulture. It has more than 120 employees, four liquid CO2 production plants (with an additional facility under construction) and two dry ice locations across Europe.

In other news, Air Products has won the contract for the Golden Pass LNG Export Project in the US state of Texas, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil Air Products. It will be the 4th US Export Facility to use the supplier’s proprietary natural gas liquefaction technology.

Air Products will also supply three of its MCR(r) Main Cryogenic Heat Exchangers, which will be installed at the heart of the propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant liquefaction process for the three-train facility. At start-up in 2024, Golden Pass will produce around 16 million t/y of LNG.
