German distributor Albis Plastic is widening its Ineos distribution franchise, now nailing down all rights to the Styrolution K-Resin portfolio in Europe. Going forward, the distributor said it will be able to support its customers as a material supplier and technical service partner in the respective local markets.

The new distribution agreement stems from Ineos Styrolution’s recent acquisition of the global K-Resin styrene butadiene copolymer (SBC) portfolio of Chevron Phillips Chemical.

Adding the new products is the “ideal complement” to the series of SBS specialties produced by the Ineos subsidiary that Albis already distributes, the Hamburg-based company said. This includes the Styrolux and Styroflex product lines sold to the packaging and healthcare industries.

The long-standing partnership between Albis and Styrolution dates back to the initial cooperation between Albis and BASF in the late 1960s. Ineos Styrolution was created through a merger of BASF subsidiary Styrolution with Ineos’s styrenics business, initially as a joint venture and later as a wholly owned Ineos subsidiary, when the Swiss-based group acquired BASF’s share in 2014.

K-Resin is used in injection molding as well as extrusion processing.
