Azelis Takes Majority Share of ROCSA Colombia

Azelis has agreed to acquire a majority stake in ROCSA Colombia, a specialty chemical distributor serving the life sciences and industrial chemical markets in South America.

Financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter of 2022, were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Bogota, the company is one of Colombia’s leading specialty chemical distributors and is also present in Peru and Central America. It has over 130 employees, serving more than 1,900 customers in markets that include food & nutrition, personal care, home care & industrial cleaning, coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE) and plastic additives.

“Our market-leading regional expertise together with Azelis’ strong global network brings us a powerful international reach, which will benefit our diverse range of principals and customers,” said ROCSA’s CEO, Carlos Yaipen. “We look forward to leveraging Azelis’ leadership in sustainability, digitalization and innovation, and we’re confident that ROCSA will thrive under Azelis’ ownership.”

Azelis said the addition of ROCSA’s portfolio of products and capabilities is a significant milestone in its strategy in South America. Earlier this month, the multinational distribution group opened a new headquarters in Mexico City, the latest in a series of major developments in Mexico over the past few years to grow its operations in Latin America.
