Baerlocher Ups UK PVC Stabilizer Capacity

German plastics additives manufacturer Baerlocher is adding capacity for its calcium-based PVC stabilizers at Bury, UK. The company said it will expand output by more than 50% in 2022 by installing new mixing and granulation units.

Baerlocher said the project will support strong demand in both new and recycled PVC applications and it also reinforces the company’s commitment to a post-Brexit UK and Irish markets. “This expansion begins the next chapter for the company, as we approach our 50th anniversary in the UK during 2023, with an increasingly challenging regulatory framework and complexity in supply chains,” commented global PVC additives head, Andy Jones.

Andrew Tate, head of PVC additives, EU/Middle East Africa, added that the increase will support the anticipated new demand for solid calcium-based systems as a result of rising regulatory pressure to convert from existing liquid stabilizers in many PVC applications.
