Bozich to Succeed Pappas at Trinseo

03.02.2019 -

US plastics and rubber producer Trinseo has named Frank A. Bozich as its new president and CEO, with effect from Mar. 4. Bozich, who holds chemistry degrees from the University of Chicago and University of Illinois, will succeed the retiring Chris Pappas.

Pappas has been CEO of Trinseo since its spin-off in 2010 from Dow Chemical (as Styron) and is credited with being the principal architect of the young company’s culture and strategy. For a transition period, he will serve as special advisor to the new chief executive.

Trinseo’s board chairman, Stephen M. Zide, said Bozich’s “breadth of experience in leading businesses in diverse and dynamic global markets is an ideal fit with Trinseo's strategic priorities."

From 2013 and into 2019, Bozich served as president and CEO of Schenectady, New York-based specialty chemical producer SI Group, which was acquired last year by SK Capital Partners and merged with Addivant. With more than 5,000 employees and more than 30 manufacturing facilities on five continents, SI last reported $2 billion in annual sales.

Before joining SI Group, the CEO-designate held several executive management positions at BASF, where he was president of the Catalysts division, group vice president of Precious and Base Metal Services and group vice president of the Integration Management Office.

Bozich also has held management positions at Enterprise Technologies and Ventures as well as at US catalyst manufacturer Engelhard Corporation, acquired by BASF in 2006. Prior to that, he served in leadership functions at Rohm and Haas, Croda Adhesives and Apex Adhesives, which he founded in 1986.
