OQ Chemicals Expanding Capacity for Carboxylic Acids

25.01.2023 - As part of a capacity increase for carboxylic acids, Oberhausen, Germany-based OQ Chemicals, part of Oman’s state-owned energy company OQ, is investing an undisclosed sum in an optimization and debottlenecking project for precursors at its German plants.

The new capacity is expected to be available to the market in 2024, but structural work at the plants has already begun and is due to be completed during the ongoing current first quarter.

The company said the debottlenecking goes hand in hand with a partial reorganization of its global network of multi-purpose plants to boost efficiency, improve infrastructure and further strengthen production capabilities.

Oxo Performance Chemicals made by OQ Chemicals, formerly known as Oxea, are key building blocks for energy-efficient high-performance lubricants, cosmetic ingredients or animal feed additives.

The German chemical producer claims global market leadership for most carboxylic acids. As a technology leader for the chemicals ranging from C3 to C9, it continues to develop new technologies for future markets and applications, said David Faust, executive vice president Oxo Performance Chemicals.
