Röhm Breaks Ground on Innovation Center in Worms

14.02.2022 - German methaycrylates specialist Röhm recently broke ground on a new state-of-the-art innovation center at Worms, Germany. The new facility, which will employ around 100 scientists, is designed to further expand its technology leadership, the company said.

The new center, set to be completed in early 2023, will house modern laboratories and pilot plants under one roof, thereby facilitating the development of new processes, products and applications with a view to breaking into new markets, Röhm said.

“By pooling our research activity at the biggest production site we have anywhere in the world, Röhm is set to expand on its leading market position,” said CEO Michael Pack. COO Hans-Peter Hauck added that the company’s global research activity underlines the Plexiglas-brand PMMA manufacturer’s aspiration to be a leading supplier in the field of methaycrylate chemicals.

As a globally-focused company with 15 production sites on four continents, Röhm is also strengthening its research activities in the US and China. The Darmstadt-based player commissioned a technological center in Shanghai last year and is currently building a new technology center in Wallingford, Connecticut, where research activity will kick off before the end of 2022.
