Styrolution and Bage in ABS Recycling Pact

11.10.2019 -

Ineos Styrolution and Austrian recycler Bage Plastics have agreed to cooperate on producing high-end ABS grades with up to 70% recycled content. Under the deal, the Germany-based Ineos subsidiary will integrate the Austrian processor’s post-consumer recycled electrical and electronic waste into state-of-the-art recycling ABS formulations.

The companies said they have developed the technology to manufacture the ABS recyclate without sacrificing product properties or performance when compared to virgin material and have launched commercial quantities on the market as a drop-in solution for customers.

Sven Riechers, vice president, business management, Standard Products EMEA at Ineos Styrolution, said quality and performance of the recyclate provided by bage plastics “fully meets the standards that we expect for our industry-leading products.” The collaboration, he said will take Styrolution closer to meeting the Ineos group’s target to incorporate least 325,000 t of recycled material into its products annually.

Philipp Baum, General Manager of bage plastics, said both companies share a common vision to support a closed loop economy by maximizing recycling and recovery of materials, thereby minimizing waste and reducing the environment impact.
