Trinseo Opens R&D Center in the Netherlands

US performance materials and plastics company Trinseo, formerly part of Dow Chemical, has opened a new research and development facility in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

Trinseo has created the new Plastics Research Center by modernizing and combining two existing technical support and research laboratory operations under one roof. It said the collaborative environment will help drive new plastics innovations within the company and support Trinseo’s plans to grow the Performance Material division by $100 million between 2016 and 2019.

A range of products, including styrene, polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), PC/ABS and latex binders are produced at Terneuzen, which is now Trinseo’s joint largest site in Europe alongside Schkopau in Germany.
