Studies have shown that around 75% of our emotions are triggered by odours. More and more companies are using this insight to establish an emotional connection between product and customer. Food processors have a "nose" for sales opportunities and are constantly looking for ways to leave a lasting impression on consumers. The perception of fragrances plays a decisive role here.

In response to the increasing demand for sensory customer experience and natural ingredients, Air Products has developed a process to enhance the "smell experience" when unpacking food. The Freshline-Aroma-MAPTM system nebulises natural essential oils when packaging food such as meat and bakery products under Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). The flavours meet customer requirements for a "clean label" declaration of the ingredients. The use of essential oils also helps to prolong shelf life and thus reduce food waste.
