Studies have shown that around 75% of our emotions are triggered by odours. More and more companies are using this insight to establish an emotional connection between product and customer. In response to the increasing demand for sensory customer experience and natural ingredients, Air Products has developed a process to enhance the "smell experience" when unpacking food. The Freshline-Aroma-MAPTM system nebulises natural essential oils when packaging food such as meat and bakery products under Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). The flavours meet customer requirements for a "clean label" declaration of the ingredients. The use of essential oils also helps to prolong shelf life and thus reduce food waste.
