Evonik Focuses Partnership with Borussia Dortmund on International Target Audience
German Bundesliga football club Borussia Dortmund has presented a second jersey sponsor alongside Evonik in the form of the Internet and mobile communications provider 1&1 Media. Starting next season, depending on the competition, either Evonik or 1&1 will adorn the jersey of the soccer club. Starting in the 2020/21 season, the Evonik logo will adorn the shirts of the “Revierclub” only in international cup competitions such as the Champions League, friendly matches abroad, and the German DFB Cup. 1&1 will have the position on the jerseys at all Bundesliga matches.
Evonik and Borussia Dortmund - according to the chemicals group, this is a dream combination. Since the 2007/08 season, when the Evonik brand made its debut, the Essen-based industrial group has been supporting the traditional football club as main sponsor, thereby massively increasing its level of public awareness at home and abroad.
For Christian Kullmann, the cooperation with Borussia Dortmund goes far beyond mere sponsorship. "So far, we have had 14 incredibly successful and wonderful years with BVB, during which our partnership has continued to grow," says the Evonik CEO. "In Germany, BVB is firmly established at the top of the league and our brand is very well known for this reason. Now we want to focus our partnership together on international success. This will continue to include test game trips by the professional team to other continents and many other measures.”
BVB charman Hans-Joachim Watzke emphasizes: "Our long-standing partnership with Evonik is characterized by passion and trust. We want to continue this partnership at the highest level".
The partnership has also been a topic in CHEManager. It was in 2017 that BVB ran a full-page congratulatory advertisement on the 10th anniversary of the chemicals company’s rebranding and the introduction of the name Evonik in 2007. (mr)
