EPA Plans to Revise Rules on Use of PCBs

18.07.2013 -

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will seek input from small business, small government organizations and non-profit organizations in writing new regulations dealing with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).

The environmental watchdog said it needs to revise or end existing authorized uses of PCBs, taking account of knowledge gleaned in the more than 30 years since the first legislation was first enacted. The new rules could address existing liquid-filled PCB use authorizations, PCBs in fluorescent light ballasts, PCBs in natural gas pipelines, and regulatory language clarifications.
