Innovative Automation Solutions with Miniature Shock Absorbers

The requirements of the modern automation technology are unequivocal: Progressively smaller, increasingly quicker, increasingly more powerful. The Stolberger Weforma Dämpfungstechnik accommodates them for many years with a comprehensive range of miniature shock absorbers - including the one with a connection thread of M 4 x 0.35, generally the smallest series shock absorber worldwide.

As braking elements, the shock absorber of the Mega-Line Miniatur (M 4 to M 12) series make linear units, electrical switches and swivel units more productive, less susceptible to malfunction and more efficient. With the 3 to 30 g light absorbers, mechanical and plant engineers become new freedom in the development: With a length of only 33 to 69 mm, including stop cap, it is possible to design progressively smaller and quicker acting components.

The larger pistons provide the frequently required high energy consumption - this is between a max. of 0.7 Nm (M 4) and max. of 12 Nm (M 12) per stroke. Depending on the size, the miniature shock absorbers are - dependent entirely on the individual application - available as adjustable and self-adjusting, as well as with linear and progressive damping characteristics. Furthermore, in order to overcome different effective masses, diverse hardness's can also be selected.

"For many years, our miniature shock absorbers are proven in service with customers", says Weforma Managing Director Armin Schmidt. "They attain a service life of up to 40 million strokes." This is ensured, et al., by piston rods made from hardened stainless steel. Moreover, the surface of the housings has a high resistance to wear: The QPQ procedure ProSurf offers optimum protection against corrosion - the duration of spraying during the salt spray test (DIN 50021SS) is, at up to 500 hours, twice as high as with the traditional coatings. The absorbers are heat resistant at temperatures of between -20 °C and +80 °C. With special seals, temperatures of between -50 °C and +130 °C can be attained. The integrated fixed stop provides maximum safety; the supplied locknut and the recessed flats in the housing facilitate simple and cost-effective installation.

Besides the standard range, Weforma also offer individual, special designs - e.g. made from stainless steel - and performance-optimized shock absorbers according to customer request e.g. for the clean room or foodstuff industry.
