HCS and Neste in Renewable Distillates Pact

18.06.2015 -

Germany’s Haltermann Carless Solutions (HCS Group), global manufacturer of hydrocarbon and chemical specialty products, and Finland-based Neste, producer of premium renewable fuels, plan to establish a preferred partnership for renewable distillate products.

As part of the agreement, HSC will manufacture customised bio-products for various industrial application from renewable components produced with its Finnish partner’s proprietary NEXBTL technology at refineries in Singapore, the Netherlands and Finland.

Neste’s renewable distillates are said to be suitable for applications in metalworking fluids, paints, coatings, printing inks, lubricants, water treatment, detergents, hydraulics and cosmetics.

HCS Group said it sees chemical products based on renewable feedstocks as a “key enabler for true sustainability.” The biodegradable products with a lower sulfur and aromatic content manufactured by Neste are claimed to have a reduced environmental footprint.

Kaisa Hietala, executive vice president, Renewable Products at the Finnish company, said the collaboration is an important step to growing Neste’s foothold in the chemical industry, where the demand for renewable components is increasing.

The products are ideal for the chemical industry because their chemical composition is comparable to their fossil equivalents; thus no modifications are needed for existing processes, and significant environmental benefits can be achieved, Hietala added.
