IMCD Takes Finland’s Kokko-Fiber

23.09.2020 - In its third purchase so far this month, IMCD has bought Kokko-Fiber, a Finnish supplier of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) composite materials. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Earlier this month, IMCD also purchased Siyeza in South Africa and Indian excipients distributor Signet.

Sami Valkama, Managing Director IMCD Finland, commented: “We recognize the importance of the composite business in the Nordic region. With this acquisition, IMCD will not only expand and strengthen its relationship with other suppliers in the composites’ market, but it will be in an excellent position to offer its synergistic product portfolio to new customers.”

According to Kokko-Fiber, the largest FRP industry in Finland is the marine sector, into which the Kokkola-based firm sells products that are used for building, for example boats, plastic doors, pipes and tanks, swimming pools, sports equipment, among others.

Kokko-Fiber has five employees and generated revenue of €9 million last year. It is based in Kokkola, Western Finland, where it has a warehouse that the company said can easily serve the 60% of the marine industry that is located in the country’s western coastal areas. In 2016, it opened a sales outlet in Porvoo to serve customers in southern Finland.
